Agriculture: positive assessment for social coverage

Goal almost achieved. Of the 187,000 farmers targeted to join the CNSS, more than 147,000 currently benefit from social security coverage in the Casablanca-Settat region.

The construction site of the generalization of social protection is advancing at breakneck speed. In the agricultural sector, the process is also accelerating. And to inquire about the progress of this project in the Casablanca-Settat Region, Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, made a field visit to the Agricultural Advisory Center of Berrechid, last Friday.

The inventory reveals that the contribution of farmers to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) exceeds 145,000 memberships. Indeed, 175,221 requests were submitted by farmers, of which 147,508 were approved. In detail, the distribution by province shows that the 42,170 farmers covered come from the city of Settat, followed by Sidi Bennour with 38,992 members. El Jadida has 30,890.

The other approved requests are distributed between Berrechid with 16,249 farmers covered, 12,185 on the side of Benslimane and 7,022 for Casablanca.

In the same vein, an assessment of the progress made within the framework of the program of the National Office of Agricultural Advice (ONCA) intended for the new generation of agricultural entrepreneurs was drawn up.

The support and support program for young entrepreneurs for the 2020-2021 period recorded a balance sheet of 198 agricultural advisory actions for the benefit of 1,772 beneficiaries and made it possible to bring out 180 project ideas, of which 13% are carried by women, and 48 action plans that are being studied.

The technical support program for the 2021-2025 period provides support for 6,600 project ideas at the regional level and 760 fundable action plans.

As a reminder, the ONCA program is counting on the realization of 10,000 projects nationwide by 2025 and the training of 800 agricultural advisers. Regarding the Casablanca-Settat Region, the objective is to support 760 projects, 25% of which are carried out by women.

Among these projects there is the aggregation of seed producers around a cereal seed multiplication and packaging unit. This project concerns an experimental platform, the investment of which amounts to 62.5 million dirhams. It brings together 96 farmers over an area of ​​2,647 hectares with a target of 4,000 ha. In terms of average annual production, the unit reaches 12,000 tons with the hope of reaching 14,000.

As for the impact, the establishment of this unit made it possible to increase the yield by nearly 86%, or from 23.5 to 43.5 quintals per hectare. This has a positive impact on the income of farmers, which has improved by 157% (from 3,500 to 9,000 DH/hectare). It should be noted that the region has a portfolio of 7 cereal aggregation projects over an area of ​​22,835 hectares for the benefit of 1,219 aggregates.
