BMW Série 7 et X7 dévoilés au Maroc

BMW 7 Series and X7 unveiled in Morocco

Unveiled at Smeia headquarters, the new X7, the seventh generation of the 7 Series presents itself as the most luxurious and high-tech car that BMW has ever made. Its marketing will start at the beginning of 2023.

The German has revealed what he hopes will be the car to take on the challenge of the latest Mercedes S-Class. The 7 Series, the latest flagship sedan in the firm’s arsenal, arrives with a complete technical revolution over the old model “G11”. It brings a host of technical features that will carry over to cheaper models in years to come. It is therefore a model of interest not only for those looking for a new top-of-the-range luxury car from the German firm, but also for anyone hoping to buy a new BMW in a few years.

The new 7 Series “G70” is built on a modified version of BMW’s “CLAR” (cluster architecture). It is an adaptable platform allowing the car to be produced as pure combustion, plug-in hybrid and all-electric i7. It is 130 mm longer than the older generation, 48 mm wider and 51 mm higher. The extra length comes mainly from the overhangs, the wheelbase only increased by 5mm.

Exclusive design

The verticality of the front end and the reinterpretation of the double headlights and the double BMW grille, which are typical stylistic codes of the brand, give the car its assertive character and unique personality.

The new BMW 7 Series is fitted with adaptive matrix LED headlights as standard, with BMW Selective Beam function: an anti-dazzle assistance system for the high beams. The lighting functionalities are divided into two distinct light segments. The upper segment, made up of an extremely thin light strip, contains the daytime running lights, the position lights and the direction change indicators. Available as an option on the top trim level, BMW Iconic Glow headlamps create a unique light effect using L-shaped Swarovski crystals individually backlit by LEDs. They perform the functions of position lights and daytime running lights. As for the dipped beam and main beam, they are integrated into the lower optics, which stand out as much for their positioning further back in the front bumper as for their dark finish.

The contour illumination of the BMW twin kidney grille underlines the imposing character of the front end. Combined with the BMW Iconic Glow crystal headlamps, this lighting comes to life in two light effects “Welcome” and “Goodbye”, which appeal with their visually expressive character. The new model features other specific styling signatures, including the elegant surfaces of the front bumper and the sculptural shape of the bonnet, marked by its sporty central inflection.

Like the front, the rear of the new BMW 7 Series impresses with its clearly structured surface arrangement. The LED lights in a particularly slim design are distinguished by their minimalist elegance. The rear light units extend slightly over the sides.

The German sedan has an exterior color chart consisting of a solid color and nine metallic colors. Four BMW Individual colors are already available, and further special colors with a particularly strong style will also be offered in the future. Finally, for the first time, two “BMW Individual biton” colors are offered as an option for all versions.

Very high-end interior

The passenger compartment sums up the balance between sportiness and driving comfort that characterizes the new model. For the driver, the new 7 Series is a saloon that is as elegant as it is dynamic. For passengers, especially in the rear, it provides a feeling of well-being.

The dashboard has significantly fewer buttons compared to the previous generation. Indeed, the new model relies on digitalization, as evidenced by the BMW Curved Display (standard). This 100% digital handset consists of a 12.3-inch information screen, housed behind the steering wheel, and a 14.9-inch central control screen. In addition, the steering wheel and the gear selector on the center console have also been redesigned. In addition, the new model is equipped for the first time with the BMW Interaction Bar system, a new type of control interface coupled with a characteristic visual signature. This functional system features elegant backlighting and extends the full length of the dashboard to the doors.

The optional BMW Theater Screen includes a 31.3-inch 8K touchscreen with a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and seat-integrated subwoofers. Touchscreen remote controls are integrated into the doors (BMW Touch Command) and an automated rear sunshade system closes when the cinema screen is on. Passengers can watch videos and listen to music along their journeys. And whatever their preferred mode of entertainment, the occupants of the BMW 7 Series benefit from an incomparable acoustic experience thanks to the BMW IconicSounds Electric system. Indeed, for the first time, all the driving soundscapes developed within the framework of the collaboration between the BMW Group and the famous film music composer Hans Zimmer are available.

Various engines

From next November, the German sedan will be offered as a 100% electric limousine (i7 xDrive60). This version will be equipped with two electric motors developing a combined power of 544 hp (400 kW), and will benefit from numerous innovations to increase its range (from 591 to 625 km).

A six-cylinder in-line diesel engine, combined with a 48V light hybridization, developing 300 hp (740d xDrive) will complete the engine range in the spring of 2023. As for the plug-in hybrid variants, they will be marketed in the first quarter of 2023.

For the launch in Morocco, from the first deliveries, the BMW 7 Series will be offered in an electric version i7 xDrive60 and thermal versions 735i, 740i & 760i xDrive. The 750e xDrive and M760e xDrive plug-in hybrid versions and the 740d xDrive Diesel version will be offered to Moroccan customers as soon as they start production. The electric version will be delivered with a 22kW AC charging station as well as two cables for public and domestic charging.
