To meet the growing needs of automotive and equipment manufacturers
Like other car and equipment manufacturers, the German group Stahlschmidt international holding GmbH (SCS) chose Tangier for the creation of its new industrial unit specializing in components and assemblies for mechanical unlocking systems, the inauguration of which official has just been chaired, Wednesday, June 22, by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade. With a total cost of 107 million dirhams, this new factory – which comes after a record five months of major works, contributes to “strengthening the position of Tangier as an industrial destination par excellence and to supporting economic cooperation Moroccan-German”, affirmed Mr. Mezzour.
Having benefited for its realization from the support and accompaniment of the supervisory department and other stakeholders at regional and national level, this new factory covers a total area of 21,400 m², more precisely in Tanger Automotive City (TAC) , within the Tanger Med industrial platform, for the production of innovative Bowden cables, release units and plastic injection molded components. Considered Stahlschmidt’s first project in Morocco and Africa, it comes “to meet the demand of the most prestigious car manufacturers in the world”, said Mr. Mezzour, noting that the establishment of the Stahlschmidt group in Tangier demonstrates the confidence won by Morocco from foreign investors among SMEs or large groups and to strengthen its position as a leader in the automotive industry.
It should be noted that out of the total of 21,400 m² of surface area, this new industrial unit currently occupies some 9,400 m² of built land and the rest of 12,000 m² will be built for delivery in January 2023, allowing the creation of 1,075 jobs and the construction of a annual turnover of more than 400 million dirhams. “The interest of German companies for the Kingdom of Morocco continues to grow and I am convinced that other German SMEs will follow Stahlschmidt to settle there,” said Robert Dögler, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. in Morocco. The participation of the German Embassy and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Morocco in the inauguration ceremony for this new plant showed once again, according to the speaker, the interest shown in supporting the development German investment in Morocco.
Operating in the various key economic sectors in the Kingdom, “German companies directly employ 35,000 people, mainly in the automotive industry. We see in Morocco a progressive dynamic of German investments”, said Mr. Dögler, before adding that with an increase in German investments in Morocco of 600% between 2010 and 2020, the Kingdom is thus “the second country of reception of German investments on the African continent after South Africa”.
It should be noted that the Stahlschmidt group aims through this new plant to meet the growing needs of tier one car manufacturers and equipment suppliers such as VW, Martur, Fujikura, Audi, Skoda, Renault, PSA, Daimler, Faurecia. “Complete Bowden cable systems for automotive and industrial applications will be produced to the highest environmental and quality standards and shipped worldwide,” the SCS Morocco team said.
