The Musical Getaways set the tone for the opening of the summer season with a program of classical music concerts in places of architectural and natural heritage in the Arcachon Basin and beyond.
There are moments in life filled with emotion and communion, this event is one of them.
The festival Les Escapades Musicales has established itself since 2010 as an unmissable event Between the greatest international artists and a music-loving public during five weeks all around the Bassin d’Arcachon, from Thursday June 23 to Saturday July 23 this summer.
A well-started start to summer to take advantage of exceptional programming in places that are just as exceptional, like an invitation to get away from it all and enjoy the season on all the most beautiful natural and heritage sites in the Arcachon and Val de l’Eyre basin, the time of a concert and ephemeral scenes.
And this year has nothing to envy to past seasons. You be the judge.
Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart, Purcell…, the greatest classical composers are inevitably to be found during the fifteen concerts given by a host of artists and instruments during these mild summer evenings. But there will also be different offers…
Musical escapades are the promise of the truancy of classical music.Pejman Memarzadeh, founder of the Festival
- Like this recital with two Victoires de la Musique: Romain Leleuto the trumpet, and Thierry Escaichat theorgan, which will immerse their audience in a romantic universe with a repertoire of French musicians like Saint-Saëns or Satie.
And with the Estivales, classical music rhymes with creativity and originality. Here are some examples.
- The opening concert given by the Sextet “Strings and Blades”. Percussion keyboards and a high-level string quintet who combine their talent with their imagination to go from Vivaldi to Johann Sebastian Bach via contemporaries as different as Michel Legrand and the Beatles!
- This is also the case with the Debussy Quartet who chooses a jubilant journey through one of the most demanding and craziest musical forms, and this, through the centuries, from Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn or Beethoven to reach Piazzolla.
Entitled “A little history of the Art of the Fugue”, this concert will be given at Castel Landou in Lanton on July 1st.
- Or an encounter between East and West with Persian music through the collaboration of one of today’s great Persian percussionists and composers, Keyvan Chemirani, accompanied by the Debussy Quartet.
Cello, piano, clarinet and trumpet, but also violin, accordion and others will resonate in unison in places that are as different as they are magical at the start of the season.
From Cap-Ferret to Pyla via Andernos, Audenge and Gujan-Mestras, it is all the diversity and natural richness of the perimeter of the Arcachon basin that will serve as the setting for the fifteen concerts of the Estivales musicales, even agreeing a few pranks inland such as Mios for its Parc Birabeille and Salles for its castle.
Cap-Ferret lighthouse, Ruat au Teich castle, Moorish park in the winter town of Arcachon, port of the Biganos tiles, Gallo-Roman remains in Andernos-les-Bains but also sacred places such as the churches of Saint -Pierre de Mons and Gujan-Mestras as well as the chapels of Pyla and Abatilles…. are only a sample of places that will serve as a setting for an evening for this well thought-out programme.

Who says exception could also mean selection of an informed public but precisely, no. The programming, placed under the artistic direction of the talented renowned conductor and cellist Pejman Memarzadeh, is within everyone’s reach. Also founder of the event, he knew how to surround himself with a team just as passionate about classical music as he was to concoct together an ever more varied program each year.
If the most discerning music lovers will be delighted to find the greatest international artists, the others will discover the wonders of classical music from a different angle and other musical genres inspired by the classical.
Escapades are also moments of great friendliness in L’associative spirit of enthusiasts.
At the end of the concerts, the public is invited to meet the artists to discuss and testify to the effects felt during the evening.
And in this same spirit of conviviality, sharing and openness, the pricing policy strives to make classical music accessible to as many people as possible. Thus, some concerts are free, others at a reduced rate for young students, job seekers and people with reduced mobility. And to encourage young people under 18 to come to the event, all the concerts of the festival are completely free for them. In addition, Les Escapades Musicales dedicate two mornings to educational actions targeted at the youngest throughout the territory.
A 13th edition without a doubt a lucky charm…
Pejman Memarzadeh, artistic director
Beautiful values for this artistic and human adventure with which France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine is associated again this year on the occasion of this new edition.
For example, last year, a concert was held in one of the tchanquées cabins. A moment suspended between sky and sea immortalized by our cameras.
