“I had with me a conscientious objector, Nicolas Vesin. The two of us have dinner together one evening over a good couscous and we start thinking about this party. We wondered what we did when we received friends at home. Simple: we share a good meal and we listen to good music. »
Sinsemilia, Souad Massi, Tryo…
There is a prescription today, Didier Trambouze therefore admits with a big burst of laughter that “two bottles of rosé” helped in the birth of what was to become World Music and Gastronomy, an adventure that has lasted for 28 years, almost without stopping. “Only the 2018 and 2020 editions have not been able to take place since the creation of the festival. In 2018 after two years at La Palmyre and the change of mayor in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 edition attracted a crazy crowd, nearly 6,000 people over the two evenings, a sign that the people were waiting! »
The Concié esplanade is ideal, for festivals in general, by the way.
In the meantime, the Carel end-of-year party, with its tables set on the esplanade in front of a stage perched at the top of the steps, became an authentic festival, when Didier Trambouze took over the management of the Saint-Georgeaise cultural association. Créa, his concept under his arm. “MGM”, for the intimate, lived 15 of its 26 editions in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, at the stadium. Ideal for installing on one side an entire village dedicated to the flavors of the world, on the other a large concert stage, where over the years have paraded big names such as Souad Massi, Bernard Lavilliers, Sinsemilia, which had attracted 5,000 spectators , the record, Sergent Garcia, “Tryo, too, for the 20th anniversary of the festival”, remembers Didier Trambouze.
By leaving the direction of Créa, Didier Trambouze did not abandon “his” festival, bouncing back to Mathes, in 2016 and 2017. The white year, in 2018, did not sound the death knell for this concept either. simple “but still works. The mayor of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, Claude Baudin, his assistant at the time, Fabienne Labarrière, Douglas Duhazé, in charge of events, were enthusiastic to host the festival! “, appreciates Didier Trambouze, who remains, forever, the founder, and, for a few more editions, no doubt, the artistic programmer. A “baby” that he never tires of seeing come back, every June, to animate two evenings on a site, from now on, that he considers idyllic, necessarily. “The Concié esplanade is ideal for festivals in general, Crescendo has already proven this for years. The artists themselves are amazed, they play with a view of the sea! »
A Moroccan edition in preparation
The Crescendo progressive music festival is making a comeback after two canceled editions. And Didier Trambouze, who remembers that the current president of Crescendo was sound engineer for the first edition of Musiques et Gastronomie du Monde, would see a rapprochement between the two events, a collective, which would make it possible to pool resources, “while keeping our respective musical colors, of course”.
